Who we are
Melissa Kimberlin is an experienced Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a robust background in primary and urgent care. She is licensed in both Kentucky and Indiana and is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Melissa has demonstrated success in working with diverse populations, conducting physical examinations, reviewing medical histories, and coordinating specialist referrals. She is skilled in diagnosing and treating a range of health issues, including acute, chronic, and substance abuse conditions, and is proficient with various medical software.
Melissa began her career as a Registered Nurse in the ICU at One Health from August 2008 to October 2014. During this time, she updated patient charts, trained new nurses, delivered medications, educated patients and families, collaborated with physicians, and provided exceptional care to high-acute patients. She also performed frequent checks on life support equipment and administered medications and treatments.
From April 2017 to August 2018, Melissa served as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Boyett Treatment Center, where she developed individual treatment goals, collected urine samples for substance use testing, provided counseling and support to clients with drug and alcohol abuse issues, and prescribed psychiatric medications. She displayed sensitivity to cultural and linguistic needs and connected clients with community service and resource agencies.
Melissa then worked at Brighter Side Recovery in Evansville, IN, from August 2018 to November 2019, where she continued to provide comprehensive case management services, including creating treatment plans and connecting clients with appropriate resources. She also directed family-centered intakes and assessments, prescribed psychiatric medications, and ran an outpatient clinic serving adult and geriatric populations.
Most recently, Melissa was a Family Nurse Practitioner at Saint Camillus Urgent Care from October 2014 to July 2023. In this role, she helped patients manage acute and chronic pain, provided preventive care, coordinated referrals for specialty services, examined wounds, and treated STDs. She also conducted health screenings, physicals, and special education assessments, and explained medications and side effects to patients and their families.
Melissa holds a Master of Science in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (2022), a Master of Science in Family Practice Nurse Practitioner (2014), and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2011) from Western Kentucky University. She also has an Associate of Science in Nursing from Henderson Community College (2008). Her certifications include current AANP certification, BLS, and ANCC Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Across the Lifespan) certification. Melissa is a knowledgeable and caring healthcare professional dedicated to helping patients manage their health and improve their well-being.
