Who we are
Daniel Sherar is a seasoned professional with over twenty-five years of diverse experience in ministry and social work. He has a robust background in professional counseling, particularly in addressing addictions, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. Daniel's academic credentials include an MSW from the University of Southern Indiana (2001). He has also undertaken graduate studies in Peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University (2011) and earned a Family Mediation Certificate from Indiana State University (1999). Additionally, he is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (2006).In his pastoral ministry, Daniel has served in various roles, including Associate Minister at New Whiteland Christian Church (1989-1992) and Preaching Minister at Fillmore Christian Church (1992-1996).
He has also worked part-time as an Associate Minister at First Baptist Church in Washington, IN (1996-1998), and as an Interim Preaching Minister at Central Christian Church in Washington, IN (2016). His extensive chaplaincy experience with the Indiana Army National Guard (1988-2010) includes deployments to Bosnia for the Stabilization Force (2002), Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003 and 2008), and serving as Garrison Chaplain at Camp Atterbury, IN (2005-2006). He has been ordained and commissioned by the National Association of Evangelicals, the Evangelical Church Alliance, and is currently commissioned by the Christian Church (Disciples) since May 2017.In the field of social work, Daniel's experience includes agency management with Good Dads Association in Evansville, IN (1998-2000), and as a Psychiatric Social Worker at the Samaritan Center in Vincennes, IN (2001-2009).
He conducted research at the Purdue University Military Family Research Institute (2010-2012) and co-founded the Peace Counseling Center (2009-2016). His work in addiction recovery includes roles at Daviess County Security Center (2011-2012) and Daviess Community Hospital (2009-present). From 2016 to 2021, he worked at Compass Point in Montgomery, IN. Daniel holds licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) since 2014 and as a Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCAC) since 2011.
